👨‍🍳 Directions: How to Make Meatloaf

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. Sauté the aromatics (optional but flavorful):
In a small pan, cook the chopped onion and garlic in a bit of oil until softened—about 3–5 minutes. Let cool slightly.
  3. Mix the meatloaf:
In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, onion & garlic, egg, milk, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and optional herbs/spices.
👉 Mix just until combined—don’t overmix to avoid a tough loaf.

  1. Shape and place in pan:
Transfer the mixture to a loaf pan and gently press it into a loaf shape. You can also free-form it on a lined baking sheet if you prefer crispier edges.
  2. Prepare the glaze:
In a small bowl, mix ketchup, brown sugar, and mustard. Spread half of it over the meatloaf.
  3. Bake:
Bake for 45 minutes, then remove and spread the remaining glaze on top.
Return to the oven and bake for another 15–20 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
  4. Rest and serve:
Let the meatloaf rest for 10 minutes before slicing. This helps it hold together and keeps it juicy.
